About Uedu Computing

Location

U-Computing is a Introduction to Computing reader under Uedu interdisciplinary general education, covering the foundational compulsory subject for university information-related programmes from start to finish. It does not assume you can programme; instead, it helps you understand the full picture of 'how computers work, how software is built, and how data flows across the internet' — the digital literacy every discipline needs in the AI era.

Scope

Eight major thematic clusters broaden the scope of computing: foundations of computing (number systems, data representation, Boolean logic), computer hardware and organisation, operating systems, programming, algorithms and data structures, databases and data management, networks and the internet, as well as information security and computing theory. Each article includes an introductory main section + a postgraduate in-depth section, and is accompanied by a concept diagram.

How to combine for learning

• Uedu AI TA: Ask questions about introduction to computer science directly in the AI co-reading TA on dialogue or article pages.
• Cross-disciplinary connections: computing is the shared foundation for understanding "Uedu Smart AI" (machine learning), "Uedu Electronics" and "Uedu Semiconductors" (hardware carriers), and "Uedu Statistics" (data science).
