Journey to the West is a long pilgrimage chronicle woven from master and disciples, gods and Buddhas, and demons. This section attempts to 'datafy' it: presenting, through an interactive network, the relationships among the pilgrimage party, the Buddhist order, the Heavenly Court and the demon hordes, and reinterpreting the personality results you obtained in Learning Traits Exploration as 'which figure on the pilgrimage road you are most like'. It turns a classical text into a digital experience that can be explored, discussed and reflected in relation to yourself.
A TV special-style camera flythrough procedurally reconstructs the long journey to fetch the scriptures: from Chang'an out of the pass, following the timeline of the 81 tribulations scene by scene, it passes Two Boundary Mountain to recruit Wukong, the Three Beatings of the White-Bone Demon, and the Three Borrowings of the Banana Fan at Flame Mountain, until the Five Saints become true on the golden summit of Spirit Mountain; the light and shadow shift with the arising of fate, the gathering of sworn fellowship, hardship and enlightenment. You can also switch to free view and roam Flower-Fruit Mountain, Flowing Sands River and Flame Mountain yourself.
