想像你是一位 BJET(British Journal of Educational Technology)的審稿人,桌上躺著三十篇待審論文。

"Education is very important for the development of society."

Move

"Since the beginning of time, humans have been learning. Learning is a fundamental part of life."

"Large language models (LLMs) such as ChatGPT have been rapidly adopted in higher education, with over 40% of undergraduates reporting regular use for academic tasks by 2024 (Author, 2024)."

Move 1

(Claiming centrality): "Recent years have witnessed a growing interest in..." "... has emerged as a central concern in the field of..."
  • 回顧既有研究(Reviewing prior work),注意動詞時態: "Prior studies have demonstrated that..."(現在完成式,表示累積的共識) "Smith (2022) found that..."(過去式,表示單一研究的特定發現)

Move 2:

Swales

(Indicating a gap)

"However, more research is needed in this area."

"However, while these studies have examined LLM use in writing tasks, the impact of LLMs on students' critical reasoning in quantitative disciplines remains largely unexplored."

(Counter-claiming)

"Some researchers think differently."

改良:

"However, these claims rest largely on self-reported data from single-institution samples, which may overstate the consistency of the observed effects across diverse learner populations."

(Raising a question)

"Despite this growing body of work, it remains unclear whether the benefits of AI-assisted feedback persist once the AI support is withdrawn."

"It remains unclear whether..."

(Continuing a tradition)

"Building on this line of research, the present study extends the investigation from K-12 settings to higher-education contexts, where learner autonomy plays a more prominent role."

"A lot of people have studied online learning. But there are still many things we don't know. So this study is important."

"A lot of people" 過於口語,學術寫作應寫 "A substantial body of research" 或直接引用。 2. "many things we don't know" 沒有指出具體缺口。 3. "this study is important" 是自我宣稱,且太早跳到 Move 3。

"A substantial body of research has documented the effectiveness of online learning for cognitive outcomes (Author, 2021; Author, 2023). However, far less attention has been paid to its effects on learners' self-regulation over extended periods. This longitudinal gap is particularly consequential given that..."

改良版用具體引用支撐 "substantial body",用 "far less attention has been paid to" 框定確切缺口(長期自我調節),並用 "particularly consequential given that..."

"In this paper, we present our study."

Move 2):

"To address this gap, the present study investigates whether the benefits of AI-assisted feedback persist after AI support is withdrawn, using a six-month longitudinal design across three universities."

Move 3

The aim of this study is to..." / "This paper seeks to..."
Specifically, we address the following research questions: ..."
This work contributes to the literature in three ways: first, ...; second, ...; third, ..."
The remainder of this paper is organized as follows..."

[Move 1] "Automated writing feedback has become a prominent feature of digital learning environments, and a growing number of studies report gains in students' revision quality (Author, 2021; Author, 2022). [Move 2] However, these studies have predominantly measured short-term improvements within a single assignment, leaving open the question of whether such gains transfer to new writing tasks without continued system support. [Move 3] To address this gap, the present study tracks 240 undergraduates across four successive essays, examining whether feedback-induced revision strategies are retained once automated support is removed."

  4. 批判要對事不對人:用 hedging(may overstateremains unclear)客觀指出方法限制,而非攻擊前人「做錯了」。
  5. Move 3 必須呼應 Move 2:用 "To address this gap" 等橋接語,並重複 Move 2 的關鍵詞,讓邏輯閉環。

Swales 的洞見深受 ESP(English for Specific Purposes,特定用途英語)與體裁分析(genre analysis)傳統影響。

為什麼學術寫作偏好 "the effects remain unclear" 而非 "no one has studied the effects"? 絕對化的宣稱("no one has...")
